Make Yourself Feel Good

Say these words to yourself.

Books! I read books, I always have and I think I always will. Education! As I get older I appreciate what a good education, whether formal or self-education, can do for you. With this in mind at the end of 2010 I set myself the ambitious goal of reading 52 by the end of 2011. At approximately 1.30pm on the 31st December 2011 I successfully completed this goal! I can not overstate how good that felt. I had set myself a challenging goal that required focus, diligence and dedication and I achieved.

There are many blogs, articles, books, tapes, CD‘s, DVD‘s and seminars out there on the importance of goal setting and being disciplined enough to see your goal through to the end. Most of them , if not all, valid points on the reasons why this is a great idea, showing statistics on how successful people are goal setters. I only have one point to add to all of the research and years of study that the various experts have already shared. Success, in anything area of your life, makes you smile …

Set yourself up to feel good, right now! Sit down with a pen and paper and write the 10 things you would like to do over the next year. Pick the 4 that you have the most reasonable chance of completing, or excite you the most. Once you have picked your 4 goals for this year write a sentence or two for each of the following headings for each goal.

1. What? What is the goal? What do you want to do?

2. Why? Why you want to achieve this goal, remember your ‘why’ has to be exciting enough that you will do what it takes to achieve the goal.

3. Plan. How exactly are you going to achieve this goal?

All you need to do now is work the plan every day or week for the rest of the year and feel amazing because
